BACK TO BLOGS + UPDATES

Healing the gut. Nourishing body systems. Grounding the mind.

Kitchari is a perfect and easy one-pot immune building Ayurvedic staple. Kitchari is a nourishing comfort food made of easily digestible split mung beans, long-grain white rice, and our anti-inflammatory cleansing spices that are necessary to help to stimulate & balance your digestive fire, also known as Agni. Kitchari is appropriate anytime you are in need of a digestive reset or are feeling under the weather and looking to replenish your physical and emotional well-being.

Kitchari: An Ayurvedic Staple
Kitchari: An Ayurvedic Staple

Kitchari can be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.  Kitchari has been used for centuries as an effective cleanse during times of stress or seasonal shifts and gives your body the break it needs to focus on detoxifying its systems, allowing for deeper healing to occur.

Enhance the flavors of the blends during the cold winter months using healing vegetables with warming properties such as carrots, turnip, potatoes, mushrooms, or butternut squash.  Basmati rice, part of the long grain family, is featured in this traditional Ayurvedic recipe rice as it is a tridoshic superfood (good for all body types) with light and easily digestible features.  To increase the restorative benefits of kitchari, heat the spices in our ghee (we recommend the traditional flavor) or add a spoonful and stir in to melt once it’s completed cooking.  Using ghee in your kitchari is an essential component to effectively cleanse, detoxify, and nourish the digestive tract.

Farmtrue now offers two different Kitchari blends.
