Does Ghee Need to be Refrigerated? ❄

Ghee is a type of clarified butter that has been widely used in Indian cooking for centuries. It is made by simmering butter to remove the water content, and then filtering out the milk solids (which includes the lactose and casein). This creates a product that is rich in flavor and highly shelf-stable.

Ghee can be stored at room temperature in an airtight container for one year. However, if you live in a hot climate or wish to extend its shelf life, ghee can also be refrigerated. When stored in the fridge, ghee will solidify and should be brought to room temperature before use.

For best results, keep ghee in a dark, cool location away from direct heat or sunlight. With proper storage, ghee can last for many months or even years.
